I know many of you are reading this title saying what kind of garbage post is this. I would think the same typically but around 2 years ago I actually witnessed a large repossession business lose an account with an absolute major bank that took them over 7 months to get. Problem is, is sometimes relating with the collections department at the bank varies, some of them are super cool and may curse a little a little on the phone and we find that normal and maybe now and then also throw a curse out.
Once getting to know these guys on a personal level you begin to be much more personable with them on the phone and also realistic, hence drop an F-bomb here and there and likewise them. Anyone who has been in business before knows that executives are the same as anyone else and usually very open also. When you work in repossessions, it can become stressful at times for both the banks as well as the repossession companies, talking with them daily , you become friendly with one another and an occasional F-bomb or shit is said and usually normal.
This particular case was not the normal and the agent updating the bank blew the entire account. Let me remind you, this account was gotten through intensive trying, then had to go through an entire financial process that took months. Not only that, once getting the account, they had to prove themselves by doing the hardest repossessions they had, meaning they were all charge offs of near charge off, much more stressful for the average company. If those near charge offs do not get done, chances are you will not begin to get 50 or 60 monthly accounts ever.
// ]]>After all this is said and done, the person giving the update had just finished giving an update for a company that he had been giving updates for several years to the same guy and cursing is exchanged. he gets on the phone with this newly gotten company and drops an F Bomb and then a second one as this particular case was truly difficult. The guy on the phone was super conservative and said “what did you just say?” and the agent apologized profusely and that was all it took. The account was long gone and never received another repossession order again. it didn’t matter how good the company was, or the fact that they had found and picked up every single repossession they got. It was done period. All those months working on getting an account was out the window due to an update manager dropping two curses in a conversation.
Clearly proving that it is much better to just never curse while speaking with banks or finance companies despite them cursing with you on the phone. Despite all the catering you might give them or despite the friendships.
